Cookies are small files a site asks your browser to keep. Local storage is a similar idea with a bit more room. Some of it is needed for pages to work at all, some remembers a preference, and some helps measure how the site is used. Here is what CoinCrafty uses, and why.
Essential
These keep the site standing up: security checks, spam filtering, load balancing, remembering that you already dismissed a notice so it does not reappear on every page. They carry no advertising profile and cannot be switched off without breaking the site.
Preferences
If you flip the dark-mode toggle, choose a language or set a display option, that choice is stored so the site looks the same next time. It is a note to your own browser, not a profile of you. Clear your browser data and the site simply forgets and goes back to defaults.
Analytics
We look at aggregate measurement: which guides get read, which pages load slowly, where something is obviously broken. The point is to fix and improve the site rather than to follow individuals around. Where we can use aggregated or privacy-preserving measurement, we prefer it.
Advertising
Advertising pays for part of what you read here, alongside the commercial links explained in our affiliate disclosure. Ad and affiliate partners may set their own cookies, for example to count a click or to avoid showing you the same creative repeatedly.
We deliberately do not list vendors by name on this page. Those arrangements change, and a stale list would be worse than an honest description of the categories involved. What we can tell you is what they are for.
Tools that keep your data on your device
Some of our tools save things locally so they survive a page refresh. Your watchlist and any figures you type into the profit calculator or DCA calculator are stored in your own browser. Portfolio and tracker entries work the same way.
That data is not uploaded to us, and there is no account behind it. The trade-off is that clearing your browser storage deletes it and we cannot restore it for you. No CoinCrafty tool ever asks for a seed phrase, a private key or a wallet password, and any page that does is not ours.
Your controls
- Every major browser lets you block or delete cookies, per site or across the board.
- A private window keeps everything for one session and then discards it.
- Browser-level tracking protection and global privacy signals are respected where they reach us.
- Blocking non-essential storage is fine. Some conveniences, like a remembered theme, simply stop persisting.
