The short version: CoinCrafty is a publication, not a data business. We collect as little as we can get away with, we do not sell personal information, and most of what our tools hold never leaves your own browser.
What we collect
- Server logs. Ordinary web-server records created when a page is served, such as a truncated or processed IP address, the request, a timestamp and browser information. These exist for security, abuse prevention and diagnosing faults.
- Newsletter details. If you subscribe to the newsletter, we hold the email address you gave us and basic delivery information. Nothing more is required.
- Messages you send. If you contact us, we keep what you wrote and any reply address you supplied so we can answer.
- Aggregate analytics. Which pages are read, how fast they load, where something is broken.
We do not ask for a wallet address, a private key or a seed phrase, and there is no reason for you to send one. We do not knowingly collect information from children.
What stays on your device
Tools such as the watchlist and our calculators keep their data in your browser’s own storage. The figures you enter are not uploaded, not tied to an account and not visible to us. Clearing your browser data deletes them permanently, and we cannot recover them for you.
Cookies and similar storage
Essential storage, preference storage such as the dark-mode toggle, and analytics or advertising storage are described in detail in our cookie policy.
Third parties
Running a site means using suppliers: hosting and content delivery, email delivery for the newsletter, analytics, and advertising or affiliate partners. Those partners process what their function requires and are expected to handle it lawfully and securely.
We do not sell personal information, and we do not trade reader data as a product. If your local law gives you an opt-out from data sharing for advertising purposes, use do not sell my info.
How long we keep things
Logs are kept for a limited operational period and then discarded or aggregated. Newsletter details are kept until you unsubscribe, and every issue carries an unsubscribe link. Correspondence is kept for as long as it is useful to the matter it concerns, then deleted.
Your rights
Depending where you live, you may have rights to access a copy of your data, to correct it, to have it deleted, to object to or restrict certain processing, to portability, and to opt out of sale or sharing. Frameworks such as the GDPR and the CCPA describe rights along these lines.
We apply these as a general standard rather than picking and choosing by jurisdiction. To exercise any of them, write to us through contact and describe what you want. We may need enough detail to identify the records in question, and we will not ask you for more information than that requires.
Security and changes
We use sensible technical and organisational measures, though no website can promise perfect security. When this policy changes materially, the page is updated and the change is visible here. If anything reads unclearly, ask us and we will explain it in plain words.
