FAQ
Does this show what I would have made in the past?
No. This is a forward planner only — it does not pull historical price data or claim what a DCA strategy would have returned starting at any specific date in the past. You choose the assumed average price yourself.
Is dollar-cost averaging better than investing a lump sum?
It depends on your own risk tolerance and market view — there is no universally correct answer, and this tool does not make that recommendation. DCA spreads out your entry price and can reduce the regret of buying right before a drop, at the cost of potentially buying at a higher average price in a rising market.
What should I use as the assumed average price?
That is your own estimate, not a forecast we provide. Some people use the current price, others use a price they consider reasonable over the plan's duration — the result is only as meaningful as the assumption you put in.
Does the calculator account for fees?
No. It works out gross totals from your inputs; trading and network fees on each buy are not deducted. Add them into your amount-per-buy figure if you want a more realistic total.
