I had a friend who was going to be in the process of moving to a new city. She had moved to Atlanta and was going to be living in the suburbs of that city. She was moving into a home with a few older friends who were all moving out of the city. Her friends were moving out of the city into an apartment in an apartment complex close to the city. My friend and her friends were moving to New York, but it was still an apartment in a city.
She decided to move to a house in a city. In Atlanta, there are people who are afraid to move to a city because it’s so expensive. The main reason is because the neighborhood is far away and is not safe. The thing with New York is that people are afraid to move where they have a lot of friends in it. You don’t want to scare the people that you know into moving.
I always think the worst part of this conversation is when people talk about New York and say “I dont want to move to that place!”. In my opinion, that sentence is the best way to describe Atlanta. Yes, it is expensive and a little far away, but it is also surrounded with lots of friends and family.
That said, I’m still very much in love with New York, and for that I have to take issue with anyone who would say that it is an entirely safe place to live. The problems I have with New York include its high crime rate, its high crime rate, and the fact that it has a reputation for being a place where gun-toting gangs go. For all the wrong reasons.
That’s right, I said it. But you know what else is very, very wrong? The fact that you don’t live there.
I don’t live there. Hell, I’m from the Bronx, and I’ve lived in New York since before my first decade of age. I’ve been a New Yorker since I was about twelve. I’m not even going to pretend that I have a good opinion of New York. I’m not going to claim that people who live and work there are a bunch of assholes, because they’re not.
As some of you may know, I used to live in New Jersey. Now what a big deal, I am not going to make a big deal about that because Ive been there since I was a teenager, even. But I do know about the fact that this is something a lot of people don’t know about. I was in a place I just wasn’t supposed to be.
So what is a place you werent supposed to be? A place that you dont know what to do with yourself, or where you live is a place you werent ready for. I wasnt ready for being an author.I wasnt ready for being a writer. I wasnt ready for being a writer because I already had a job. I didnt need a job. I didnt need that because I already had everything I wanted to do.
