I am a traveling psych nurse. My favorite part of my job is to sit in on the very private conversations that many mental health patients have with loved ones. One of the most common questions I get asked is “What do you do for a living?”. I don’t have a particular response for these patients because I don’t really know. But, I am very happy that I am able to help my patients and their families live a more normal life.
I have to say that I do have specific responses. I am not married, so I don’t have children. I have three pet cats named Kitty, Spar, and Cat. I have three dogs named Spike, Snips, and Sniff. I also have a horse named Lola. I have a dog named Poppy, a cat named Marley, and I have a cat named Zippo. I guess that makes me a cat person.
I can’t really speak about my cat and dog, but I do have a horse named Lola who I’ve adopted. I also have three cats named Marley, Spike, and Zippo who are all quite a bit younger than me.
So, traveling psych nurses. I know you probably don’t want to hear this, but it just happens to be a fact that I grew up traveling psych nurses and that I was in charge of a traveling psych nurse training program for a very long time. I was in charge of it for over 10 years. It wasn’t exactly a glamorous job, but it was a very interesting job. I spent a lot of time with a lot of interesting people and I learned a lot.
I’m always up for a good challenge, but the travel nurse job was never glamorous, but it was very interesting and fun. I think the best part was when we’d take a break from our training and go out to eat and we’d see a movie theater with very little to do (no snacks allowed) and that was the best part of the day.

While the travel nurse job may be considered a bit of a job, it was one of those jobs that really didn’t require much, but still, it was a lot of fun. You were required to take care of a person in a foreign country every day, and you were required to be in constant contact with them. It was a lot to take in, but I think it was very fun and interesting.
I think I remember liking traveling nurses because I thought they were pretty cool. But now when I think about it, I think there was something a bit ridiculous about it, or at least something I found a bit odd and not-so-well-done. As much as I love a nurse who is in the field all day, I would rather not be doing it, but then again, I’m not sure I like the whole “working with a human being” concept.
Traveling nurses are basically like midgets with a tiny brain and a giant potbelly. They have a lot of responsibilities, but they are not allowed to take any breaks or rest. They are literally always on call 24/7, and they have to be on duty at all times. They are always in their uniforms, they have an office, and they have to be on top of everything.
Traveling nurses can be considered the equivalent of midgets in that they are not allowed to eat, drink, or otherwise have any physical activity. They are the new, more down-to-earth, and often less demanding version of the midget, but all the same, traveling nurses are not allowed to have any fun. They are constantly on call, and they cannot have any downtime.
