I got a call from a buddy of mine recently and he was wondering about the duck in the bowl, and how he could use it. What he was trying to say was that he was thinking about how to use it more intentionally, but didn’t know how to do that. He had been on this path before and had been stumped. He was thinking that he needed to figure it out, but he wasn’t sure where he should start.
I have no idea how a duck looks. I am always surprised by how many people are unaware of this, but once I explained to someone what a duck is, they were pretty impressed.
A duck is a mammal, a wild creature that can live in water and not have to swim. They are not edible because their meat is so tender. Duck meat is quite different in taste from chicken. Ducks are not endangered, but they are a popular hunting target. Ducks are the only native species of freshwater duck to survive the extinction of the native goose in the U.S.
It is also the only duck species that can be hunted legally. They are also the only duck species that can be hunted by duck hunters. The first hunting season ended in 2006, and they are protected.
Duck hunting is legal to a degree, but it is illegal to hunt the duck species themselves. A person who wants to hunt and kill ducks has to register with the State Department and then show it to a local wildlife biologist.
