I don’t have a great handle on 中文, or Chinese. I’m trying to get better, though it can be a bit frustrating to try to understand a language that most of my friends don’t speak. Even though I’m pretty sure I can speak Cantonese, I’m really bad at it. My friends and I often joke that I’m the Chinese one of a pair.
Yeah, that’s right, you’re the Chinese one of a pair. When I think of the two characters, I think of “cantonese” and “chinese.” “China” is the first letter of “chin-sin.” You’re Chinese, and you’re Chinese because you can read “chin-sin.

Im glad youre not the only one. China is the country that has a very famous language, Cantonese. If you have a Cantonese accent your accent will sound just like mine. When Im in a Chinese restaurant Im always trying to get as many people to try it as possible. It’s true though, they do seem to have a very high rate of success with Cantonese speakers.
I am a huge fan of Cantonese but Im not too worried about sounding Chinese. I can usually get by with having some standard English and just speaking it. I just want to make sure I sound authentic so people can tell theyre not just a “fake” Cantonese. But like most people my own accent is very minimal. I hope you enjoy the trailer.
I think the best way to make sure you sound authentic is to get an English speaker to read for you and try to imitate it. If you’re going to have a different accent and do it as an English speaker I don’t see why you can’t just do it as Chinese.
The best way to make sure you sound authentic is to make sure you have a really good accent from the beginning and that you don’t sound like a Chinese person, therefore don’t go with the Spanish speaker. If you don’t have a good accent and really don’t sound like one of your characters then you probably need to take your accent seriously and try to make sure you are speaking the Chinese language.
I hope this makes sense to you. When it comes to writing in a language other than your own, I’d suggest checking your dictionaries and other resources out. I know that a lot of people can’t spell Chinese correctly and that makes them feel stupid, but in order to write correctly in Chinese you need to do things like making up words and pronouncing the wrong sounds. Most people can’t write Chinese, but they can write English.
Chinese is pretty difficult in the sense that the characters are all written in different ways. When you learn a new language you use that knowledge to write in that language. I will do my best to explain in simple terms. Chinese has a lot of characters, all of which are in one of two scripts, simplified or traditional. Simplified means that characters are smaller and lowercase characters use a certain amount of strokes, whereas traditional means that the characters use a lot of strokes.
In Chinese, there is a lot you can’t do because you need to know the entire character (either in the whole script or a whole character) to write a character. So you may not be able to say, “This character looks like a dog.” But you can say, “This character is a dog.” In Chinese you can also write “this is the dog” and that works too, but it doesn’t sound right.
