The two jobs (I think) you should never be in is the operating room and the operating room travel nurse. Yes, you may have heard the term “operating room” in reference to the room where surgical procedures are performed, but that is not the only place in a hospital you may encounter it.
Operating rooms are the rooms where people get operated on. Travel nurses are the people who work in these rooms during their stay. They are usually on call 24/7, and sometimes they have to be there when you need them too. Operating room nurses provide support for their patients, making sure they stay comfortable, as well as doing the actual surgeries. A travel nurse should be able to handle either role, but operating rooms, especially for elderly people, are notoriously hard to find.

So, if you’re working in an operating room and you notice a nurse who has been out for awhile, you should make sure that she is doing the same job as you. If you’re in a different role, you should ask the nurse if she has had a break in the last year and explain to her why it would be a good idea to work on her resume.

Nurses are still responsible for their own safety, but the equipment they use is also more dangerous than anywhere else.
That said, operating rooms and anesthesiology are very dangerous professions. But since they are generally located in a safe part of the country, and the equipment they use is generally safer than anywhere else, theyre considered to be more safe than most other jobs.
The reason operating rooms are generally considered safer than other jobs is that they are usually less likely to cause injury. So you dont have to worry about operating on someone who has recently had surgery or has been recently treated for a serious illness. Plus, the people who work there are usually very experienced and have excellent judgment, so they are usually highly trained and very careful.
