I’ve recently become a fan of Dr. Seuss’ books. I love that the books have a really catchy rhyming dictionary to help us decipher the original language and in a way, the words can teach us a bit about ourselves.
The books are great because they don’t just teach you the words, they also teach you how to pronounce them. So when you’re reading a Dr. Seuss book, you go back and read the original language sentences, and then you use that as a starting point to tell your doctor what you’re trying to tell him.
I also enjoyed reading these books as a kid because they were written in rhyming dictionary. The characters were funny and clever. To me, the most interesting character was the one who was the meanest.
The doctor in these books was a bit of a goof. He was the kind of person who would call you into his office, tell you he doesn’t believe in you, and say he was going to take you to the emergency room to have you put in a permanent IV. He would also turn around and ask if you had a fever. When he found out I had no fever, he tried to give me a heart attack, saying I was going to die if I didn’t stop writing.
The doctor in these books made a lot of ridiculous comments about how he was going to give you a heart attack or that he was going to put you into a permanent IV so you could die. The kind of person who would do that is not usually the doctor who gives you a heart attack. The one most people know is the one you call Dr. Rumpelstiltskin.
The doctor in these books is Dr. Egleston, a brilliant but mentally unstable genius doctor who is Dr. Rumpelstiltskin’s worst nightmare. It turns out that he is actually a really smart, but mentally defective genius that gets into lots of weird situations. He is apparently a descendant of the original Dr. Rumpelstiltskin, although he gets confused and gets his own ideas sometimes.
This book is the first in a series and it’s a great read. The only problem is, it’s also really long and doesn’t seem to have what you would call a linear narrative. It feels like it could easily go on forever unless you cut it down to the right length. I recommend this one to anyone who enjoys reading about the crazy world of medicine.
