It was the 14th (or the first) time I heard that term. I’ve never heard this a word before, and I’d read many of the comments.

For the record, the only other option available is to buy ads at the store. It is possible to buy ads from some of the companies like Google AdWords, but not from the company that owns the website. If you wanted to buy ads, you would have to use the company’s direct-link ads.

I can understand the argument that Google is trying to increase the transparency of ads, but it’s a bit disingenuous to call such a thing transparency. It’s a lot more like you’re asking a man to hand over his wallet when he’s getting robbed.

The problem with ad selling is that it is in many ways a shady business. It takes so much effort to make someone click on an ad, and then they are not interested in clicking on an ad again. You can think of this as a way of killing two birds with one stone. You can make people click on ads in hopes that they will buy from you, but then it costs you money in the form of a click-through fee.
