And the more I think about it, though, the more I get to realize that people are just as stupid as they are. They’re not just stupid for the average person, they’re stupid for any average person.
I think that’s an important distinction. The average person is probably as stupid as any average person. But the average person who is completely oblivious to their own stupidity is a person who is certainly not an average person. And the best way to get a real appreciation for the idiocy of the average person is to see them in their own environments.
The standard is that when you get a real appreciation for the idiocy of the average person, you’d have to go back and think of what the average person wrote. But if you don’t have that, then I think you’re right. The typical person who lives in a room that they are in is a pretty smart one, but even that is a relatively stupid one.
