I have not always been this bilingual. As an immigrant to the U.S. from Mexico in the early ‘90s, one of my first words was “en español.” In the years before that, I had English and Spanish as my first languages. Then, I started taking Spanish more seriously and learned Spanish for college. I am also bilingual in both English and Spanish.

I suppose it is a bit strange to be bilingual, especially when you are not sure you are. But it is absolutely not a problem in and of itself. As I have stated before, being bilingual is a choice you make every day. I learned Spanish at a young age and I’ve never regretted it.

I learned Spanish because it was the only language I knew to speak with other native speakers of the other two languages. It was one of the best things to do in my high school studies. But Ive had to unlearn things in order to learn Spanish in college. So I suppose I am bilingual now. I don’t know about you, but my Spanish is rusty, and I find myself using a lot of words in the wrong places. It is a problem.

Spanish is a language all together. It’s got a ton of words for things that you do with the other two languages. You can do a lot with two languages. I’m not sure what you mean by “learning” Spanish, but it’s definitely possible. I just can’t make sense of it all.
