It’s not really “stopping” in the sense of “not charging,” but it’s a little bit like that. I think this is because the apple watch can only store and display charge for so long before its battery reverts to a flat-out negative.

Apple watches generally store enough charge to run for days before they’re fully charged, and often for weeks before they’re fully charged.
