This is a common refrain I hear from people new to the fitness world. So, I thought I’d take a look at the poundage numbers and see if they might be right for you too. To do this, I’m going to assume that you have a good amount of muscle in your body so that weight loss can be expected. Assuming you weigh about the same as me, that would mean your average body weight would be around 115 pounds.

This is a good place to start as you can get a good idea of the typical weight loss of the average person. On this basis you can calculate how much weight you should lose and then look at the numbers for you to see if they’re right for you.

We don’t know the exact percentage of the average person that does this, but I’d say that at least 2% lose the same amount of weight and the rest lose a lower percentage.

It’s important to realize that the exact percentages are not really that relevant. The average person is not going to want to lose the same amount of weight whether she’s a man or a woman. You should do what makes you feel good in the long run, not what makes your body look good for your size. A good rule of thumb is to try to lose about 10% of your total weight.

What this means is that if you lose 10 pounds, you should probably do it at a time when you’re not eating that much. We did the math and it’s not like we’re starving, but there’s always a certain level of physical and mental hunger that comes along with eating certain foods. It’s not as if you’re starving to death or anything, but you should be making sure your body is getting enough calories.
